Endless waiting lists for the practical driving test and candidates whose provisional driving license is about to expire, how to remedy this? To avoid penalizing those who cannot book and take the exam within the six-month deadline, a circular from the Ministry of Transport dated July 31, 2019, as stated on the Ministry's website, provided for the "carry-over of theory exams for the driving license, which, if passed, allows them to remain valid even beyond the six months of the provisional license's validity, if the two practical driving tests could not be completed within this timeframe (...) The carry-over allows the successful passing of the theory exam to be transcribed onto the new provisional license, thus allowing the practical driving test to be taken directly without having to pass the theory quiz again and (important novelty! ed.) without having to undergo a new medical examination." The extension can be requested only once, before the expiration date of the first provisional license, at the same Motor Vehicle Department office where the theory exam was taken. A new document is issued, so the two payments of 16 and 26.40 euros will need to be repeated.
