Sitting correctly in the car

Sitting in a car is not like sitting in an armchair at home: driving too reclined with arms stretched out is certainly not the position that guarantees the best control. A position that is too cramped, with the torso very close to the steering wheel, is also incorrect: the back tends to move too easily, and movements with the steering wheel are limited and obstructed. For an ideal position, the backrest should be slightly reclined (about 95°) so that the entire back can adhere to it. In this way, we will be able to perceive even the slightest movements of the car. Try extending your arm and resting your wrist on the top of the steering wheel, at 12 o'clock: if the backrest adjustment is correct, your shoulder remains against the backrest, and when you bring your hand back to 3 o'clock, your arm remains slightly bent, in the position that allows the least effort while driving. You can learn more about this topic by following our website updates and by reading our manual Safe at the Wheel, available in print version on Amazon and in both eBook and print versions on Lulu.
