UN 2030 Agenda, also road safety

Road safety is part of the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: Target 3.6, dedicated to road safety, aims to halve the number of global deaths and injuries from road accidents by 2020. This is also a goal of the European Commission with its 2018 "Europe on the Move" package, which anticipates strategies and actions for the next decade; to monitor the progress of European Union member states, road safety effectiveness indicators are being defined, which Italy will also have to provide annually. In Italy, after a downward trend that almost halved the number of road accident fatalities between 2004 and 2016, in 2017 – according to the Istat 2019 SDGs report – the number started to increase again, while the growth in the rate of serious injuries halted. In this context, every action aimed at building a culture of road safety is essential, raising awareness among road users about conscious and responsible behavior, respectful of their own and others' lives. Our commitment continues!
