Driving in the city can be a stressful experience, especially during rush hour. Adopting defensive driving – which aims to avoid accidents by anticipating risky situations and preventing danger before it becomes an emergency – can make the experience in traffic less arduous. If more people drove defensively, the roads would be safer; after all, in some cases it's about adopting common sense rules. Some examples. When overtaking a motorcycle or bicycle, always leave adequate space between our car and the two-wheeler, to avoid damage in case of a sideways swerve in our direction. Near schools, especially at dismissal times, always consider the possibility that a child might suddenly step off the sidewalk without looking around; slow down and pay close attention. When turning at an intersection, perhaps with an obstructed view, remember that a pedestrian might be crossing the street around the corner: accelerating to beat a red light can be dangerous! Even when driving, "prevention is better than cure"....
