Driving risk, an interview with Vito Popolizio

Also in the wake of recent news events, the topic of workplace safety has been on the front pages of major newspapers these days. But media attention always focuses only on tragedies that occur on construction sites, on scaffolding, in factories. Instead, a fact that is clearly evident in the latest report from Inail, the National Institute for Insurance against Accidents at Work, is overlooked: the primary cause of death at work is road accidents.

On this much-neglected risk, Daniela Pellegrino for Giornale Partite Iva interviewed Vito Popolizio, who, with the School, has been dealing with this issue for over twenty years: the most correct, efficient, and eco-friendly driving techniques.

«The issue of workplace safety is something that still struggles to be considered a fundamental value, an integral part of every activity, intrinsically linked to a corporate culture that knows how to promote responsibility, awareness, and safe practices,» explains Popolizio. «Specifically, to drive at best and minimize possible road risks, targeted and adequate preparation is required.»

«For twenty years, the School has been teaching the most correct, efficient, and eco-friendly driving techniques, essential for safely facing every situation on the road and for achieving absolute control and the best performance from one's vehicle,» Popolizio continues. «Our courses aim at understanding the technical/structural limits of a vehicle; verifying one's driving skills; learning vehicle control techniques in emergencies; experimenting with the consequences of incorrect driving behaviors; mastering the vehicle in critical and difficult conditions, and acquiring safe, defensive, and eco-driving techniques.»

Although the School offers a variety of courses dedicated to everyone – including sports driving courses, preparation for competitive driving, and karting for youngsters – attention to companies is very high. «Our courses are particularly useful for all companies committed to optimizing the management costs of their company fleet or with traveling personnel and drivers of public and private vehicles. All of them, among other things, are required to comply with legal obligations regarding workplace safety,» explains Popolizio.
