In Greece with the Piloti National Team: Vito Popolizio in Mykonos on August 23rd and 24th for a road safety event
The Piloti Onlus National Team – of which Scuola di Guida Sicura is a partner – has always been active in promoting road safety, this time putting aside football to return… to the track. Vito Popolizio and other F1, Endurance, and MotoGP champions competed in a friendly kart race on the Kartland circuit, in the splendid setting of Mykonos island. Two days – August 23rd and 24th – dedicated to raising public awareness on safe driving alongside Safe Drive, a European non-profit organization that promotes road safety and accident prevention.
Alongside Vito Popolizio, among the stars of world motorsport who participated in the event were:
– Giancarlo Fisichella, 231 races and 3 wins in F1, currently an Endurance Racing driver
– Vitantonio “Tonio” Liuzzi, former F1 driver, currently a referee for the Fédération Internationale du Motorsport
– Riccardo Patrese, 257 GPs raced in F1, 6 wins, 37 podium finishes
– Ivan Capelli, former F1 driver, three-time podium finisher
– Luca Filippi, former Indycar, Formula E, GP2 driver
– Marco Bezzecchi, MotoGP rider for the Mooney VR46 Racing team
– Franco Morbidelli, MotoGP rider for Monster Energy Yamaha
– The legendary Giacomo Agostini, 15-time world champion on two wheels
– Maro Engel, Endurance and DTM driver
Thus, the event strongly desired by Konstantinos Mastorakis, founder and "soul" of Safe Drive, was renewed this year. A highly successful initiative with great public and media resonance. Mastorakis founded the association after losing family members in a road accident, immediately supported by some of the highest Greek institutions.
From Mykonos, the message came through loud and clear. Vito Popolizio and the other champions of two and four wheels recommend: DO AS I DO: race on the track, not on the road!
