EU-branded security

As of May 2022, all new vehicles introduced to the EU market must be equipped with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), advanced safety systems. This is stipulated by a Regulation definitively approved in Europe a few months ago, in line with the Commission's goal of halving the number of deaths and serious injuries from road accidents between 2020 and 2030. Some of these systems are currently already fitted on high-end cars, but by the legal deadline, car manufacturers will be required to install them on all new vehicles. Among the equipment required for all motor vehicles are: intelligent speed adaptation, alcohol interlock installation facilitation, driver drowsiness and attention warning, emergency stop signals, tire pressure monitoring system, and an event data recorder ("black box"). Additional safety measures are required for cars, trucks, and buses. The latter, for example, will need to be equipped with systems capable of detecting the presence of pedestrians and cyclists in the immediate vicinity of the vehicle.
