Tourists, families travelling, day-trippers driving to the beaches… Summer, traffic jams: a well-established combination. Safety is always a priority, but in summer it becomes even more important to drive correctly and responsibly.
With the message "The road is the thread that connects us to what we love", the State Police's road safety campaign has started again this year. Among the testimonials is Ambra Sabatini, paralympic champion and world record holder in the 100 metres T63, who is the star of TV and radio commercials and social media communications. "Following the rules is essential to win," says Sabatini in the commercial, who then reminds us that in the car "it is important to follow the rules of the Highway Code."
On board particularly representative vehicles such as Lamborghini, Tesla, Pullman Azzurro or Camper Azzurro, State Police officers will be present in over fifty tourist locations by the sea and in the mountains, for direct contact – without the fear of a raised hand – with citizens. Information stands are planned to explain the main road safety rules and health stations where a medical check-up of physical conditions can be carried out. And for a direct, safe experience, involvement in interactive activities aimed at personally experiencing what it means to drive under the influence of drugs and alcohol is planned.
And on the road, maximum attention. Yes, of course, especially for safety but also because controls will be intensified, with particular attention to main roads and tourist locations. To combat risky driving behaviour, technologies such as breathalysers, street control, police controllers and the mobile laboratory will be used to ascertain on the road the state of psychophysical alteration due to drug use.
