Use the brake

The brake is the most important pedal at our disposal. Of course, braking effectiveness also depends on tire conditions, but using the pedal correctly is essential. It requires control and awareness, while instinctive reactions, which could have serious consequences, should always be avoided. How do you use the brake correctly? Effective braking should be decreasing: press the pedal firmly, then reduce the pressure, without lifting your foot. The opposite behavior – pressing the pedal lightly at first and then progressively increasing the intensity of the braking – is very common, but it is wrong: the risk is not being able to stop the vehicle in time.
